Should overtime work be allowed?

Depending on what we are and where we work, the answers may well vary, and they all make sense, but in my view, overtime should be allowed within the rélevant laws and labor agreements. Now let me explain the details.     

Working overtime can be benefícial and usually harmless. First, in a capitalist society, most labor contracts include overtime provisions that workers can accept or reject. And as it is, studies have shown that many Japanese workers favor working overtime more than having a second job.     

Next, I understand some may argue that overtime results in labor exploitation, and especially harms seniors, women in child-rearing age, and people with disabilities. Certainly, employers should not abuse overtime contracts. But as far as employers follow rélevant laws and regulations, most labor exploitation can be avoided.           

Therefore, I conclude that overtime should be allowed in general. However, finding an optimal work-life balance is an important yet challenging matter in our society today.
