Is Japan doing enough to ensure its energy security?
Depending on what we are, the answers may well vary, and they all make sense, but in my view, Japan has made strides over the years, in securing its energy supply. Now let me explain the details.
First, Japan has made efforts to diversify its oil import sources. Plus, it is developing many renewable energy sources, such as hydrogen, biofuels, and geothermal power to replace fossil fuels. In addition, after the 2011 Fukushima nuclear accident, it inspected all nuclear facilities and is now promoting renewables, such as solar, wind, and hydroelectric power.
Next, I understand some may argue that challenges remain, such as dependence on nuclear power. I haven’t checked the latest data, but the Ukraine conflict may have raised investment costs and slowed down Japan’s move toward renewable energy. Anyway, Japan has committed to achieving global carbon neutrality, and the public supports it. So, I am positive about the situation.
Therefore, even though there is still room for improvement, I conclude that Japan is making its best efforts in order to secure its energy supply. Thank you for your attention. [181 Words Type-E]
