日本はアジア諸国との関係にもっと注力すべきか

Should Japan focus more on relations with other Asian nations?

This is an interesting topic; depending on what we are, the answers may well vary, and they all make sense. It’s important for any country to try to find the optimal policy, but in my view, Japan should not rapidly shift its focus on foreign policy. Now let me explain the details.

First, Japan is already a crucial part of various Asian regional frameworks, such as ASEAN and APEC, and has made efforts to solve many issues. And they have acknowledged Japan’s commitment. In addition, Japan promotes several kinds of exchanges, such as transferring technology and hosting foreign students.

Next, I understand some may argue that promoting friendly relations with any other country is always positive, but the current balance of power in Asia are complex. So, any change in foreign policy could upset the status-quo. Thus, Japan should focus on maintaining the current framework.

What I have said has only outlined the issues: in fact, several other political and diplomatic factors may have a complex impact. So, Japan need to consider them carefully to lay down the optimal policy. Thank you for your attention. [185 Words Type-I]
